“I’m here to change the way you think… and if I can change the way you think, I can’t help but change what you do, can I?” – Jeff Taffer.
I could tell that things were different… I no longer looked at something in the same way. I no longer questioned my road to success nor my ability to get there.
I was simply taking one step at a time…
Over time, I had slowly reprogrammed my brain to have confidence take control over my inner-negativity. I felt I finally had the answers to success, that I was no longer lost in my own worries and thoughts on how to make it in this world. I now have complete confidence in the person I am today, and it’s because I chose to do and think different!
How To Build Confidence – See, Think, Do.
1 | There is no handbook for Life 101… You call the shots
What book could possibly teach a newborn to survive and function in this place we call Earth? As children we were taught to go to school, get good grades, and eventually join the workforce as a contributing member of society, working a 9 to 5 job getting paid just enough to keep employees happy. Well, let me be the bearer of bad news and say that this is NOT the ideal way to live your life. In fact, it is the most commonly traveled road, and as a result, the cake is often split amongst far too many people.
If you want more out of life, if you want more success and more wealth, you need to be in control of your own destiny. You need to feel like the only person you need to depend on is yourself. And when you get to that level, you won’t have to rely on anyone else for your own success. You’ll be calling all the shots.
“If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.” – Frank Zappa
2 | Everything in this world was created by people no different than you
Why put up a barrier? I believe that as we grow up, we start to feel an ever-increasing gap between the successful and us. We begin to fear the unknown, so much to the point that people start to fear success. Stop this mindset IMMEDIATELY!
Listen to me, it’s literally impossible to make the mental leap of who you are now to who you need to be in order to attract success. Mark Zuckerberg didn’t start coding and programming with the goal of one day becoming the youngest billionaire. Steve Jobs didn’t drop out of college with the mindset of becoming an innovative leader of the 21st century. They simply believed in their path and took one step at a time… Trust that you will get all the necessary tools to become a great human being one day, but first this sense of inferiority within you has to go.
“Successful people are the ones who think up things for the rest of the world to keep busy at.” – Don Marquis
3 | Successful people have a past much like yours!
Who I was before, and who I am now, will never compare with who I will be in the future. I believe we are all a product of our experiences, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It was because I went through a rough childhood that I am now in a position where I can succeed. It was because I was able to forgive myself for the past that I am now able to concentrate solely on the present. And you can do the same!
It’s imperative that you read biographies on successful individuals you can draw inspiration from because you never know when someone had a past you can relate to!
“Successful people have fear, successful people have doubts, successful people have worries. They just don’t let these feelings stop them.“ - T. Harv Eker
4 | Don’t dilute who you are
What exactly do I mean? Don’t mix in something you’re not with who you really are. Stay unified, as a whole. “When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everyone will respect you.” – Lao Tzu
If you want everlasting confidence, you need to find your identity as a person. Who are you really? Have you been honest and sincere, or do you question your own motives at times? These are all questions that need addressing before you peel off the layers of skin that cover up the real you…
And never be afraid to put yourself in situations that make you look “smaller” than you actually are. “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” – John Wooden
5 | It matter NOT what others are doing, but what YOU are doing
There is no point in wasting your energy over things that you have no control over whatsoever and matters that never concerned you in the first place. If they are your competitor, learn but don’t get mad. Because if you seek anger, you will get angry. If you seek to learn, you will grow. The choice is yours the next time you reflect upon yourself by comparing yourself to others.
“Take no thought of who is right or wrong or who is better than. Be not for or against.“ – Bruce Lee
